Know When to Replace Your Air Filter

When was the last time you replaced your car’s intake air cleaner? A safe average is to replace these every 15k miles, every other oil change or once a year. In dusty areas you may need to do this more often! If you can’t think of the last time, it was changed it may be time! A dirty air filter restricts the air headed into the engine for combustion and can choke the life out of your car. Some symptoms of a dirty filter include: •Reduced MPG and Fuel Efficiency •Rough Starts •Rough Idle •Increased risk for fouled plugs (especially on carb vehicles) •Carbon Deposits in engine •Laggy acceleration with less power Because of the above I encourage everyone to take a look at their vehicle’s owner’s manual and read through the sections about air cleaners to ensure that your filters stay nice and clean!
